Gum Bichromate
This is by far my favorite process, which is obvious by how many images I have here. The color capabilities add to the endless amount of work and variation that is possible. It is a process that can be simple, or as complicated as you care to make it. I prefer the fairly simple route. Gum arabic is mixed with watercolor paint, then sensitized with a dichromate, where the light hits that gum hardens, where the light doesn't hit, it dissolves away in water. Layering colors can create very life-like renderings, or outrageous abstraction. The possibilities are endless. Click on the image to the left to go to the lightbox presentation, bigger images, better quality. More gum work can be seen under the 'works' heading on the introversion and MCBA pages.

Time and patience...
My first try... and the image revisited a year and a half (and many many prints) later.
